Research:

The research activities lie in the domain of environmental chemical engineering with focus on process development for water and wastewater treatment.

Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs)
Photochemical processes (heterogeneous and homogeneous photocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis, UV/H2O2);
Thermochemical processes (catalytic and non-catalytic wet air oxidation);
Electrochemical processes over BDD and DSA;
Fenton and alike processes;
Ozone oxidation;
Low frequency ultrasound irradiation;
Process integration (including some bio and physicochemical)

Research interests
Kinetics and mechanisms;
Transformation by-products & properties and reaction networks;
Modeling and optimization;
Scale-up

Applications
Industrial wastewater treatment and valorization (olive oil production, edible olives, textiles, cotton processing, wineries, leachates);
Emerging and persistent micro-pollutants in the water cycle (pharmaceuticals, endocrine disruptors, pesticides);
Inactivation of waterborne pathogens
